Acne Paper "Autoportrait": The 30th Anniversary Issue, Exclusively at BOI-S-ON
Thirty years after Acne Studios began in Stockholm, Acne Paper marks the occasion with "Autoportrait" – an issue conceived as a self-portrait of the house, tracing a creative identity that Editor-in-Chief Thomas Persson describes as alive, fluid and continually reinventing itself. The cover, shot by Carlijn Jacobs, shows Lulu Tenney dancing with a paintbrush in a nod to Yves Klein; inside are contributions from Casper Sejersen, Jordan Hemingway, Malick Bodian and Katerina Jebb, alongside conversations with gallerist Sadie Coles, designer Max Lamb and photographer Viviane Sassen. Published in the book-like format Acne Paper has kept since its 2021 relaunch, it reads less like a magazine than an archive in motion.
In Sofia, "Autoportrait" is available exclusively at BOI-S-ON, our recently opened café and matcha bar. For the launch we turned the space into a small Acne Studios installation: the issue is displayed in a refrigerated vitrine among stacked pastel crates – a wink at the brand's industrial Stockholm origins – beside monogrammed Acne Studios loafers, the 1996 pocket tee and pink editions of the issue lining the window. It is the kind of object best encountered in person, ideally with a matcha in hand.
